Samsung Galaxy S5 Announced At MWC 2014

Samsung have always been keen on their announcement of their flagship Smartphones, let alone the devices that falls under their umbrella. With the Galaxy S4 reaping numerous citations and praises from the community, what better way to continue their already noted streak is to formally announce their next gem – the Galaxy S5.

With tons of rumors, leaked photos and supposed specs, the S5 is no stranger to those who are ready to take advantage of Samsung’s next baby. What we know so far is that the S5’s aesthetics is quite similar to the S4, although it pegs slightly bigger at 5.1 inches and retains the crisp 1080p Super AMOLED, full HD display. In addition, the next flagship will still have the usual metal plastic feel with an added bonus of the home screen being a fingerprint scanner while still retaining the back and multitasking capacitive buttons.

Turning the S5 on its backside is Samsung’s fresh approach: it ditched the polycarbonate casing and replaced it with leather like feel, much like what it did with its Note lineage. Along with this, it will be available in blue and gold aside from the common black and white tones.

On the inside, the Galaxy S5 will still go with Google’s Android 4.2.2 KitKat together with the company’s own apps, including S Voice, a Flipboard like reader, My Magazine and fitness related S Health that can be synced with the Galaxy Gear and the Gear Fit band. Giving life to the Galaxy S5 is a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 16megapixel camera (5312×2988 resolutions) capable of capturing 4K videos and HDR processing.

Samsung is scheduled to out the Galaxy S5 on April 11th in 150 countries, Prepare to hand over $650 (BHD 250) for the device which is IP67 rated for water and dust resistance. The new USB 3.0 port comes with a waterproof port cover.
