If you crave for great photography and adventure, say hello to the new AR Drone 3.0 aka “Bebop”. This is Parrot’s latest offering and is a huge upgrade from its predecessors. Bebop is essentially a flying camera and combined with an Oculus Rift headset, this device takes flying into a whole new level.

At the heart of the small drone is the 14 megapixel camera and a fisheye lens. This setup is backed by some cool software tricks that will result to smooth video records. The 180-field vision of the fisheye lens enables it to capture more video than it needs but that’s to the software bundle, you can maintain the angle of view even when the drone is swaying. We feel this is the main difference among camera offerings of other competitors in the market.

Much like its predecessors, the device connects via WiFi with its four antennas that can ride on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. However, do note that its range is limited to the range of the WiFi. No worries though, because Parrot also introduced the Skycontroller which enables you to control the device within 2 kilometers.

Bebop looks promising with all things considered. Unfortunately, we are a little disappointed with its flight time limit of 12 minutes. Pricing and availability is yet to be disclosed. The device will be released in the last quarter of the year.
