Updates: Apple iPad 3
Despite of the reports flooding on the blogosphere with claims of an iPad 3 arriving by the end of this year, I never welcomed that idea in the first place since it’s kind of moot to believe Apple will try to reveal more than three hardware devices (such as iPhone 5, iPod Touch, iPod Nano) on the third and fourth quarter of this year. In fact, it’s saner to think the company will follow its yearly release for the new iPad next year since its sales have already been phenomenal and the last thing it want is to anger those buyers who’ve just bought the iPad 2 this quarter.
With those reasons laid on that side, I can say this latest report from Digitimes – an insider website famous for Apple scoops – is very plausible; informing everyone Apple already cancelled its order of parts for the iPad 3.
Specs: Next-generation iPad is claimed to be under a 9.7-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 which is bigger than any tablets or standard laptops on the market today. Speaking of which, these special panels are the main reason why the said device will be delayed since components like this will be imported from Sharp “with a high price” along with other suppliers like LG and Samsung – whereas the two companies can’t produce such volume of parts.
To be more specific, these new panels are quite arduous to manufacture requiring a “larger backlight source and a single edge light bar” for better image reproduction and toughness. Since these specifications are difficult to create, iPad 3 will be delayed until next year.
