Specs for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 Neo just appeared earlier this week, and now we might be seeing the first image of the phone itself. SamMobile tweeted the picture below early Friday morning, which purportedly shows the Neo next to its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 3.

If both phones look similar, that’s because they are. The Neo is believed to be a “lite” version of the Galaxy Note 3. And from what we know so far, in many ways this phone seems to share more similarities with 2012’s Galaxy Note 2 than the Galaxy Note 3.

As you can see in the photo, the Neo (left) is believed to measure 5.55 inches (the same size as the Galaxy Note 2), which is slightly smaller than the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3. The rest of the Neo’s features are also believed to line up with the Galaxy Note 2 quite neatly. The phone is expected to feature 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.9-megapixel front camera and a 3100mAh battery.

What ties the Neo to the Note 3 is software. The Neo is likely to run the same version of Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) as the Note 3, along with Samsung’s Magazine UX overlay and support for Air Commands.

Unlike either the Note 2 or Note 3, however, the Neo is believed to feature a hexa-core processor, through the combination of 1.7GHz dual-core and 1.3GHz quad-core chips. Out of everything, I’d say that’s the most noteworthy feature about this phone, since we’ve yet to see such a combination make it to market. If that is indeed what the Neo is packing, it’ll be interesting to see how it stacks up to the top quad-core chips currently available.
