Skydroid turns Android into a Windows 8

Listen to this article

If you’re a fan of how Windows 8 looks but you don’t want to lose all the functionality and customizable options on your Android device you’re luck. A bunch of developers have banded together to create something that gives you the best of both worlds: Skydroid. Featuring a new launcher, wallpaper, icons, and apps; Skydroid is a project that aims to turn your Android phone into a Windows 8-lookalike operating system. While it isn’t going to be a direct copy of Microsoft’s upcoming operating system, it will be heavily inspired by it and will replace all your basic apps such as the dialer, SMS, email, calendar, gallery, camera, browser, alarm and more.

Skydroid is currently in development and a few months from its intended release date, so there’s nothing to show for now besides an image of the proposed launcher design but so far, it’s looking great. Will Microsoft be taking any action against the project? Only time will tell, but let’s hope Skydroid is completed for us to test out by then. Head over to XDA-developers to stay up to date on its progress.
