If you have been a loyal user of Ubuntu in your PC, you’d also be definitely excited that it is coming to tablets. This news was recently shared by Canonical when it unveiled the Ubuntu for tablets. For starters, the Ubuntu developed specifically for tablets is basically a touch-based interface that has support for slates with screen sizes ranging from 6 inches to 20 inches and resolution of 100 to 450 ppi. 


The tablets are also likely to have ARM chips powering them. And like Ubuntu for mobile, the slates can be docked with a keyboard, mouse and monitor. Its use is also targeted for both business and home alike. According to reports that have cropped up, the developer preview for Ubuntu is scheduled by Thursday this week. Moreover, it has been said that it can also be installed on the Nexus 7 and 10 tablets. 

Developers interested can download both installable images and source code in the website. Those who are dropping by in España particularly Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress (MWC) can have the Canonical staff install Ubuntu in both their phones and tablets if they drop by the booth of the company. Mobile devices powered by Ubuntu are seen to be shipped by 1st quarter of next year.
