Businessmen will soon have a custom slate for their everyday lifestyle, thanks to Asus. The Taiwan-based tech company has announced its Asus Eee Slate B121, featuring portability, security and power in one device. The B121 slate is intended for SMB markets as well as health care and other institutions. The device sports Intel’s ultra-low voltage processor, Core i5-470UM, and combine that with Windows 7 platform to provide more familiar environment yet portable enough to carry around. What separates the B121 with other tablet contenders is its security feature. Asus knows that data security is top priority when dealing with business individuals. The B121 has multiple levels of security features starting with the Computrace LoJack. The latter helps in locking, deleting personal data and locating the device in case it’s stolen. Another security feature is called Trusted Platform Module (TPM) which is, actually, a microchip that can be used to secure confidential and company files. With TPM, files stored are encrypted to protect it from hacking or accidental data loss due to drop page. This tablet is just 0.67-inch in thickness and weighs 2.56lbs. Other features include a 12.1-inch touchscreen display (1280 x 800) with tough Gorilla glass covering, 64GB SSD storage, 4GB DDR3 RAM, WiFi, 2MP front-facing camera, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, mini HDMI, card reader, audio jack and 4.5-hour battery unit. The Asus Eee Slate B121 costs $1499 (565 BHD)and comes with a bundled Bluetooth keyboard and Wacom Digitizer Stylus.
