Asus has now announced the European release of its U46 ultra-thin laptop based on Intel’s Huron River platform. This new U Series model features an LED-backlit (1366 x 768) display, a hinge-forward design, aluminum covers, a thickness of just over one inch (28mm), and a lovely champagne color.
Spec wise, this 2.1kg mobile device comes with a 2.3 GHz Core i5-2410M processor, 4/6GB of RAM, a GeForce GT 540M 1GB graphics card (Optimus support included), a 500GB hard drive, an 8x DVD writer, a 4-in-1 card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, one USB 3.0 port, a HDMI output, and an 8-cell battery.
The U46SV model released in Europe runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and can be found on pre-order at €779 (BHD422) unit with 4GB of RAM and €799 (BHD443) 6GB RAM version.
