Each with is own motive, LG Electronics and Microsoft have teamed up to promote the Windows Phone 7 ecosystem by providing owners of LG WP7 smartphones with paid applications at zero cost, for a limited time.

The two companies plan to offer 10 popular premium apps (spanning social connectivity, gaming and utilities) with a value of over $30 every 60 days. The subsidized apps will be available for free through the LG Application Store.

“We built the new Windows Phone Marketplace to create new business opportunities for developers and partners alike,” said Brandon Watson, director for Windows Phone at Microsoft. “This collaboration with LG creates a win-win situation for consumers and developers and will further showcase the variety of quality games and applications available on Windows Phone 7.”

The LG-exclusive app offer is set to kick off later this month.
