Finally, after months of speculation and wait, Apple finally unveiled two new iPhones in a mile-long red carpet and tons of glitz and glamour.

Traditionally, iPhone models come with a number and a corresponding letter. This time however, things are quite different because they stepped out of their 4-inch comfort zone, but in the incorporation of “plus” in the 5.5inch variant. It’s all good, to say the least, and an Apple phablet might be the biggest hit of this year.

Obviously though, the star of the show is the iPhone 6 Plus. Aside from the fact that it is literally a giant when compared to the iPhone 5S and even the iPhone 6, the Plus came with a slew of new particulars, including what Apple describes as “ion-strengthened glass” in front. Apple also retained the sleek 16:9 aspect ratio found on the trio of iPhone 5s, but it also spiked the Plus’ resolution to 1920×1080 at 401ppi. That’s 185% more pixels that the iPhone 5S and 5C (1136×640, 326ppi).

To add to the beauty, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller opined that the iPhone 6 Plus’ display is sRGB accurate and will also have an ultrathin backlight with IPS liquid crystals and an improved polarizer. With all these praises, we’re more than assured that the Plus will bring to the table gorgeous pictures, vivid contrasts and a pack full of eye candy.

The iPhone 6 Plus is quite sexy, too. Despite its size, the new device is thinner than the iPhone 5S at 7.1mm as compared to the 7.6mm of the latter. Powering it will be Apple’s latest 64-bit A8 chip that would slap some 50% more power. The iOS 8 will also grace the iPhone 6 Plus starting September 17th. And as far as the battery is concerned, the device will last up to 24 hours on 3G, 16 days on standby, 12 hours of continuous WiFi and 14 hours of video playback.

Camera wise, the iPhone 6 Plus will use an 8-megapixel iSight camera with an f/2.2 aperture lens and True Tone flash found on the 5S. Also, it will have Optical Image Stabilization, and 1080p video capture.

The new Apple iPhone 6 Plus will start at BHD300 for 16GB, BHD340 for 64GB and a hefty $430 for the 128GB model. Quite a handful of papers, but hey, you’ll be getting one of the world’s most anticipated device. Pre-orders for both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will start by end of first week of October 2014.
