Nissan last updated the Maxima in 2008 and now they are set to launch their new Maxima 2016 model. Nissan is calling it a 4-door sports car (4DSC), engraving the initials into the rear and front lights. Compared to the outgoing generation, the sedan has had its dimensions altered. Nissan has made the new Maxima 2016 37kg lighter, extended the length by 5.5 cm, lowered the car by 3.3 cm whilst the wheelbase and width stays the same.
The body of the 2016 Maxima is made from high-strength steel to improve overall rigidity. New adaptive xenon and LED headlights will also adorn the front of the car, as well as a much larger grille and Nissan badge. The A and B pillars and part of the C pillar have been finished in black to give the roof a floating appearance
There will be 5 trims available for the 2016 Maxima, S, SV, SL, SR and the highest being Platinum. All come with the same 3.5-litre 6 cylinder engine mounted in the front which produces 300 horsepower and will send power to the front wheels (FWD). A new drive mode selector will be implemented to allow the driver to change certain aspects of the car. For example sports mode will increase throttle response, steering weight and increase the sound of the engine. When inside the car it will sound quiet due to its laminated glass and active noise cancellation which will also tone down road noise.
Created by driving enthusiasts for driving enthusiasts, the dramatically styled 2016 Nissan Maxima looks like nothing else on the road today – and drives like nothing in the segment. The all-new Nissan flagship not only resets Maxima’s iconic “4-Door Sports Car” positioning, it sets a new standard for style, performance and technology in the large sedan segment.
The Nissan Maxima 2016 interior will differ depending on the trim level, all trims will come with an 8-inch touchscreen display system which shows the navigation system and other applications. They will also all include keyless go, 18-inch rims, climate control and powered front seats. SV will include leather seats and parking sensors. SL will come with all the previously mentioned features as well as an 11-speaker BOSE premium audio system, blind-spot detection mirrors, adaptive cruise control and a front collision alert with auto braking.
19-inch rims, aluminum pedals and paddle shifters will be available in the SR trim level. A 360 degree camera system, powered front seats with memory, heated and cooled front seats and a drowsiness detection system will come standard in the Platinum trim level with all the features other trims have. New to this model is the ability to “flick” the navigation display from the touch screen to the 7-inch instrument display panel in-between the rev counter and speedometer.
