Even before its official launch at the CES 2013 in Las Vegas on January 8-11, Polaroid has already unveiled its 7-inch tablet especially designed for children.
The 7-inch kid tablet houses a multi-touch screen with 800 x 480 resolution. It also contains a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor with 512MB of RAM to power the Google OS, an 8GB internal storage, and an SD slot. The said tablet is powered by the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It is not much of a photography buddy with just a 2-megapixel camera.
Furthermore, the Polaroid tablet has a 3,500mAh battery, a USB port, and is WiFi-available. Ensuring its durability, the tablet is surrounded by side and rear rubber bumpers. The said tablet for kids is preloaded with only the top rated learning apps, interactive books, and other fun and educational apps.
The web browser can be customized to guarantee only the safe links for kids. It also has the Baby Switch feature that allows guardians to disable the touch-capacity of the tablet and thus allowing only the safe and filtered stream of kids’ video entertainment.
The said tablet has been awarded the CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree in the Tablets, E-Readers & Mobile Computing product category. Polaroid’s tablet for kids has a $150 (BHD 57) price tag and will be available later this month.
