Samsung Galaxy S II Launch & News

One of the Android superstars heading to worldwide stores in the following weeks is Samsung’s Galaxy S II, a handset we’ve seen get official at MWC 2011. The first country to get the Galaxy S II appears to be the UK where various carriers are going to have it in stock starting with May.

Also noteworthy for today is the fact that Samsung released the first video commercial for the Galaxy S II. In this first 20-second video clip Samsung is insisting on the capabilities of the screen of the handset, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display that’s ready to offer “truly vivid” realistic images. To prove that a girl immerses the phone in water as she seems to think she’s holding a fish rather than a flagship Android device in her hands.
Moving past this first rather poor attempt to advertise the Galaxy S II we’ll remind you that we’re looking at a powerful Android handset. Besides a larger touchscreen display you can also expect a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, 1080p HD video recording, 2-megapixel front-facing camera and Android 2.3 Gingerbread with TouchWiz UI on top.
