Samsung innovates on the netbook market to the continent of Africa, rich in solar energy.
The Korean manufacturer announced its first solar battery model at the Africa Regional Forum in Nairobi.
Samsung NC215S is intended for the African market, especially in areas where the environment does not allow permanent access to electricity. It therefore uses the inexhaustible energy of the sun. Korean and an African market is relatively untapped in terms of electronics.
The vice president of Samsung, In-Yong Rhee, intends to develop research pioneered in the field of solar energy for two years. In November 2009 the manufacturer had already used this technology with the phone Blue Earth. A phone whose autonomy was correct – 10 minutes of use for one hour of sun exposure – but whose functions proved limited.
