KIRAbook is the new Ultrabook from Toshiba that caters to those who have no issues in purchasing high-end devices. While the company had been known to be a leader in the affordable notebook market, Toshiba wanted to prove this time that it is also capable in creating premium devices. The 13-inch KIRAbook boasts of a modern design, top-shelf parts, and an array of juicy specs. The most notable feature is its resolution display of 2,560 x 1,440 (221 ppi) which makes it the very first Windows Ultrabook to have such type of screen. Aside from being Corning Concore Glass protected, the display also has touchscreen features for that ultimate Windows 8 experience. Non-touchscreen fans however can also choose the non-touch option and still be awed by the notebook’s strong display character. For the weight conscious, the notebook weighs incredibly light at 2.6 pounds making it a bit lighter than a MacBook Air of the same size. The reason behind this is its chassis which is made of magnesium alloy that helps a lot in keeping the weight down. It is absolutely lighter than aluminum but has more rigidity. Furthermore, the notebook measures 0.7 inch deep when considering its thickest point. Under the hood, the KIRAbook has a processor of either Intel Core i5 or i7 with 8GB of 1,600 MHz RAM. Storage is provided by the SSD of 256GB. To complete the ensemble, it also features a backlit keyboard and the best quality speakers from Harman Kardon. Owning the luxury notebook also include amazing perks such as Premiere Elements 11, Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, online storage of 25GB, and a Symantec security products subscription lasting for two years. Customers can also enjoy the product’s premium service and support delivered by its US based tech support staff. The classy and luxury KIRAbook will start receiving pre-orders on May 3 and will be available for shipping on May 12. It will initially be landing on the shores of Australia, Japan, and the US with 3 price configurations such as $1,599.99–BHD 605 (Core i5, non-touch), $1,799.99–BHD 680 (Core i5, touch) and all the way up to a whopping $1,999.99–BHD 754 for the touch version with Core i7 processor.
