Toshiba Thrive: The Contender Against iPad 2

Last month, we manage to received a leaked info about a new tablet developed by Toshiba targeted for the consumer-electronic group, and it will be called as Toshiba Thrive.

Today, the company announced this device for real; hinting that 449 USD price tag for its 8GB is wrong, because it turns out, its price will be hitting USA stores for a sweet deal of $429 (8GB), $479 (16GB) and $579 (32GB). Yes folks, it’s almost 70 bucks cheaper than the iPad.

If you are interested, Toshiba will start accepting preorders on June 13 at Best Buy, and its official shipping date should arrive on the middle of next month – possibly on July 10.

The Toshiba Thrive has a 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra CPU, WiFi / Bluetooth; and USB / HDMI ports. Meanwhile, it has a 2MP / 5MP front and rear facing camera, plus an expandable SD slot for its storage. Other goodies include, a haptic display, comes pre-installed with Skype app for chat and video-calling; and it boast up to 7 hours of battery life while watching HD videos.

Likewise, this device is very promising, considering it has a high-end specs for an affordable price.
